Hash Trash for the run on 13th January 2002, #354

Run at La Ferme reservoir near Bamboos village. Hares Keith "Curly Top" Lane assisted by Val. Short, flat & dry !!! (The usual joke). In fact the run took us part of the way round the lake, including jumping over a small river, balancing on a log to cross another river, squelching through a boggy, smelly, muddy patch (will have to wash my feet tonight). It then proceeded to cross some vegetable patches and straight up the side of Corps du Guard mountain, well only part of the way up but it was more than enough for a Sunday morning. Hot, sticky, tiring; the only thing that kept us all going was the thought of a beer stop at the top.
Twelve lovely, cool Phoenix cans hidden away at the end of the climb. But, what did we find ? The beer had been stolen before we got there! (There must be another Hash operating in the region). No beer !
The desolate 'runners' then started down the slippery slope towards the base camp where there was sure to be some beer waiting for them. Next the Heavens opened up and blessed all with a nice five minute douche.
Well, to cut a long, sorry story short, there were beers at the end of the run and so all ended happily as usual.
"Blob" stood in as G. Master; "Strong-on" as RA and Namsook as Haberdashery sales lady, due to the absence of the incumbents who had all found better things to do.

First Timers (Virgins):
Barbara & Peter Higgs from Flic en Flac (and UK)
Paul Schildkamp who lives in a small box in Port Louis Post Office.
Janine Flanet on holiday from France

Second Timers:
Ian Childkamp who got himself baptised "Over the top" because he was the youngest hasher to go over the top of the ridge. Thomas & Midge Müller

RA: Strong on awarded down, downs to:-
"Curly Top" for loosing the beer. Also for allowing his better half sit in the car and watch him struggling to set the hash.
Peter "Long Zip" for attempting to bribe the hare and find a short cut.
Peter Higgs for not bringing his daughter to the Hash
Janine for something or other
Rey for being ungallant and revealing Janine's age
Topmeck for being rude and asking the RA to say "please"

Smelly toilet seat award:
Mireille (who didn't wear it during the run), presented it to her best friend - Jackie - for not wishing to be acting Grand Mistress for the day.

Geeta's corner.
Well she showed up today, laden with bread, but soon disappeared when she saw the mountain-slope beckoning near by.
