The Hash with the Big Hug.
Casanova and the Captain (sounds like a gay romantic novel)
Abigail Ramiah: the birthday girl
Dave & Sylvie. Sylvie struggled to complete her down down. On the
plus side, beer is good for the hair.
La Cambuse is FAR! Some of us started the trek to make it there practically
as the cock crowed. As we made the fortnightly pilgrimage South the weather
kept getting worse and there were serious moans about coming hashing at
Good job we did. Gave me a chance to run off the hangover (Saw the Barnyard
Theatre show the night before – it’s great, if you like 80’s
music) and gave everyone else the chance to admire my artwork on the smelly
It’s a top venue for hashing as well. Captain Nimmo and Casanova
had set a trail full of variety, which, as we know, is the spice of life.
Well this hash was a ragout, or a goulash, if you will, where the meat
was the woodland, the potato was the sugar-cane, the piment was the tough
run back along the scenic coast and the lumpy gristly bits were the false
trails, some of which were longer than the whole of the rest of the hash.
I know because I ran one, and passed Dr Livingstone, Lord Lucan and Shergar
all still looking for the trail.
Gilbert was back first. Isn't’t it about time he was christened
“Laxative” ‘cos he just keeps running and running…
Well done the hares – a top effort.
But the run was nothing compared to the food. Fricassee of chicken, a
salad of new potatoes caressed with mayonnaise, and a melange of fresh
shredded vegetables, with condiments to match. Marie-Claude and Claudia
you have surpassed yourselves, and Philida’s Briani now has a serious
There was even cake, courtesy of birthday girl Abigail. Hashers please
note, this is now a precedent and anyone with a birthday on a hash must
Whatever happened to…
…Jimmy? He’s in Madagascar. We know that ‘cos the Captain
bumped into him there drinking whiskey with an Ostrich [hello something
missing here]. He’d found a genie in his attic, a close relative
of the skeleton in the closet, who’d given him 3 wishes. Jimmy had
wished for the correct money for anything he wanted to be always in his
pocket, and for a bird with long legs and…another notable attribute.
He had received the money, and an ostrich and a cat who didn't’t
like to pay for anything. Basically, if you don’t know it already
you’re going to have to make it up for yourself.
Acting RA Strong On announced that this was not a day for punishments,
but for rewarding the great and good.
Captain Nimmo and Casanova were congratulated on their promotions respectively
to Chief and Assistant Chief Constable. How else could they have the authority
to cordon off a section of public land for a private assembly, especially
on the weekend of Labour Day?
Blob was rewarded for marking his short-cuts for the benefit of other
Decoy was thanked for volunteering to set the next hash.
Tusha was acknowledged personally by the RA for kindly pointing out that
he had wandered, quite unknowingly of course, from the correct trail on
a path which reduced the overall length of the hash.
Sasha took a break from his bottle-top collecting duties to grab hold
of an old bird.
Henriette would have received the shirt this week for refusing to give
me, the wearer, a kiss hello when I arrived. However, she redeemed herself
at the eleventh hour by giving me a huge hug. (Lads, looks like the shirt
might have some hitherto untapped pulling power). So in her place it went
to Casanova for making me run down that monstrously long false trail.
Hare - Decoy. Probably in Calodyne. Given that I only found out yesterday
that I would be setting it, you’You'l have to bear with me. Watch
Shorty and Snow-white.
