Danny& Karl Schultz from Germany
Anne from France
Elizabeth Forget from Floreal
Gail from Qatar
Ray Thomas "Hard on" from Swaziland
Jill Balcom "Daisy" from Swaziland
A good trail through open land, sugar cane, up a little hill called
Grand Malabar. Super view from the top over Port Louis and surroundings
and even as far as Ile Plat off the Northern coast. The weather
was superb also.
Unfortunately we had a casualty on the way down the hill where one
of our lady hashers slipped and fractured her leg. She was soon
attended to by our resident doctor.
As the hillside was very steep, slippery and rocky, it was decided
to call for help.
First we were told that SAMU had no ambulance available.
Then the Police arrived but without any equipment.
Then the Fire Brigade arrived and started to unload ladders and
other equipment to effect an evacuation.
Finally we felt that it would be better to call for the police helicopter
and, within 20 minutes, there it was! Our patient was whisked away
to hospital in no time!
In all, a very impressive display of co-operation by the authorities
in spite of a certain lack of equipment.
Half of the hashers stayed to help or watch the "excitement"
while some went on to finish the trail.
Thanks to all who helped during this unfortunate incident. We all
wish her a quick recovery.
RA's Down's Down's (Again Alan kindly stood in as RA in
the absence of Patrice):
Alan was in a good mood and decided to only award "good" down, downs
to day. These were given to:
Jacques for professional services rendered.
Jill for 'running all the way from Swaziland'.
Ray for taking care to be in Mauritius on a hash date.
Gilbert for setting a good (but slippery) trail.
Clarence for being 'well dressed'.
Jimmy because he is leaving us to go home to mum in Australia.
Smelly Blue 'T' shirt.
Not present today
Presented to a visitor (son of Anne ?) who quickly added his
name and handed it back for posterity.
Our 'Round Mauritius Run' is approaching!

1. Andy is organising a Round-Mauritius-Relay-Run for charity. He
misguidedly thinks that Hashers could form a team to run all around
Mauritius (240km) ! What nonsense !
Anyway, he already has almost enough volunteers who will each run
either 5 or 10 km legs. About 30 more have volunteered to be stewards
and check on the runners. Some more runners needed.
The idea is that we would set off on Saturday and run all night,
arriving at the end (Baie du Cap) on Sunday in time for a reception/cocktail.
Andy is hoping that the event will receive a visit from a royal
VIP who will be in Mauritius at that time (November).
2. Training sessions are now in full swing at 5pm on Tuesdays &
Thursdays at Gynkhana Club. Come and join in! It may
even do you some good !!
3. Would hashers please note that there is a deposit (money) on
glass bottles (beer, softies)! Please do not throw them away with
the rubbish (or even take them home).
4. Walks take place on most Sundays when there is no Hash. See the
