On On:
Hare Front and Centre:
Well, a lot went on this week. Words are not enough to show our appreciation to the Hares for an exhilarating Hash. The view across the lake on approaching the On On site was enough to get the adrenaline going. We knew we were in for a good thing.
After the usual exchange of “Hellos”, “How are you’s?” and “pecks”, the pack of 75 or so were sent on their bikes, or on this occasion, their legs, to do what they came to do – spot Blob…No! not him!…Blobs of flour I mean.. and find the trail.
So splish, splash we all went, along a winding, slippery and wet trail. Negotiating a well worn, slippery plank and wobbly stones to get across marshes, streams & mud. This proved to be a challenge for many. Rumour has it that one of our young Harriettes found herself thigh deep in a mud pool. Eric just happened to be right behind her (wink, wink) and gave her a helping hand.
Once out in the open field the Hashers gave in to temptation and ate the forbidden fruit. They do belong to the chassee you know, those guavas. Some even had take aways!! Really! Can’t take them anywhere.
As I said it was an action packed trail chase. Mard Junior and Doggy Mard attempted a stunt across a stream, but smacked straight into the bank! Ex dodo cop, we thought, was helping his wife down a slippery slope, the next thing she was rolling down the trail hanging on for her dear life. All those precarious actions necessitated all kinds of strange sounds to help us get through. So there were ” Aaaaaaaa! Ooooooo! Nooooo! Sh…..!!”
All our efforts were well rewarded by a beer/waterstop just before the last stretch home.
The whole trail was engineered so that the walkers, the wimps and the runners would meet up on the running track. From then on it was ‘run for it’ those who so wished. It was well worth the effort. Merci beaucoup, Mireille et Etienne. This was the biggest crowd for several weeks !
Gyan was rewarded for coming back in the usual Hash fashion.

RA’s Down’s Down’s:
Theme Anniversary/Birthday
Etienne for being the birthday boy as would be Gipsy Rose Lee (whoever she may be).
Lord Russell for not being ‘au fait’ with Hash expressions. He did not know what Shiggy was.
Ray for being defiant and wearing new shoes.
Marie Andre followed in Ray’s footsteps.
Pratima for using the Hash trail as a Cat Walk (very well turned out she was).
Gilbert for being Mr Vain, and brushing his hair after the Hash – competing with his wife.
Our very own GM for dropping his shorts in front of the RA.

Smelly Blue T Shirt:
Went to Pratima as she was the fashion queen. Showing some hesitation to don the relatively clean ‘smelly blue’, she was encouraged and assisted by Bob.

Children’s Award:
Still with Daniella.

Celebration:
Special time was dedicated to the Birthday boy, Etienne. He was presented with a Hash cadeau. Happy Birthday Etienne!!

Christening: After being so gallantly rescued from the mud pool, our damsel in distress (Sarah #2) was christened “Mud Pie”.

Apologies:
The GM apologised for the penury of our staple Hash diet, Beer. Our cellar Master had to pay the price which qualified him to be our Star Sinner.

Hash Food:
Many many thanks to Mireille and Etienne for laying out a special Menu. We had the full works:- Starter: Goyave de Chine au nature
Main Course: Pasta and Chicken a la Mirellie
Desert: Cake

Announcement:
1. Inter Hash will be held in Mombassa in May 2003. See our “News” page for details
2. Would hashers please note that there is a deposit (money) on glass bottles (beer, softies)!  Please do not throw them away with the rubbish.
